(SOPRIS) obtained its Minority Business Enterprise Certification with the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council (ChicagoMSDC), founder and CEO Jorge Zepeda-Godinez announced today. SOPRIS is a supplier of advanced technology engineering solutions and services to enterprises in the technology, communications, energy, and government sectors. ChicagoMSDC is a regional affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

Comprised of twenty-four regional affiliates, the NMSDC is among the country’s leading corporate membership organizations for facilitating MBE integration into corporate and public-sector supply chains. Its intensive qualifying process assures its over 1750 corporate members’ purchasing agents and buyers that a business is a viable, minority owned, managed and controlled enterprise. The NMSDC counts among its corporate members most of America’s largest publicly-owned, foreign-owned, and privately held companies.

Zepeda-Godinez, a Mexican-American, immigrated to Chicago’s Pullman District with his family in 1979. From that start, through diligent pursuit of education, hard work, and a willingness to seize opportunities presented to him, he secured a position at the prestigious and world renowned Bell Laboratories, building a 29-year engineering, business, services and operations career culminating in global, senior leadership positions at Alcatel-Lucent.
